FONEMED North America, Inc. (FONEMED) has been providing nurse triage and health information from its Health Information Centre in Newfoundland since 1999. In 2000 we were the first call centre outside of the United States to achieve full accreditation by the Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC) for Health Call Centre Services. FONEMED has seen its Newfoundland operations grow from one call a month in the beginning to over 150,000 calls in 2010 with over 9 million individuals having access to our services. In addition, we have installed health call centres in many locations throughout the world and are respected as an international leader in the field of telehealth.
In 2001 we decided that there was nothing in the market to meet our software needs so we set out to develop our own software. We commissioned our first VB version through a local programming house in St. John's and over time developed new versions to meet the needs of our North American and International clients. Eventually our business grew to the point of needing in-house development and we converted to a web base application and are currently expanding our business to offer hosted solutions to North American and International clients. Current and past clients of our software have been in:
