NATI Comments on 2008-2009 Provincial Budget [4/29/2008]

Today, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador presented it’s budget estimates for 2008-2009, as well as the results from last year, under the theme “Securing a Sustainable Future”. The surplus of $1.4 billion and a $1.3 billion net reduction on the provinces debt during 2007-2008 is welcome news and provides a “strong launching pad for further prosperity in the next fiscal year," said NATI Chair, Mr. Jeff King.

More than 200 business leaders from across Atlantic Canada gathered in Halifax on Friday October 12, to recognize business excellence in the region at The Atlantic Art of Success, an event designed to showcase 20 of Atlantic Canada’s accomplished entrepreneurs and to illustrate how collaboration between the private and public sector is strengthening the region’s economy and growth.
Hosted by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), the event also officially marked ACOA’s 20 years of service to Atlantic Canadians.

NATI Board of Directors 2007-2008 [6/5/2007]

Mr. Jeff King of Bell Canada has assumed the position of Chair of the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Technology Industries (NATI) for 2007 - 2008, following the association’s Annual General Meeting held last night at the distinctive Johnson GEO Centre, St. John’s.
Mr. King will take over from outgoing Chair, Mr. Todd Hiscock of Beaufort Solutions, who will now assume the Immediate Past Chair position on the executive committee. The other executives are: Vice Chair, Mr. Padraic O’Flaherty of Lotek Wireless; and Treasurer, Mr. Robert Sauvé of Grant Thornton. NATI members successful with recent ACOA/Atlantic Innovation Fund (AIF) announcements! [1/19/2007]
Nati would like to formally congratulate all recipients of Atlantic Innovation Fund project support that was announced yesterday in St. John’s at a news conference held by the Honourable Loyola Hearn, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans and Regional Minister for Newfoundland and Labrador. In particular, eight projects in Newfoundland and Labrador will receive up to $16.7 million in funding under the Government of Canada’s Atlantic Innovation Fund (AIF), of which six are to be managed by five Nati members: Instrumar Ltd., Lotek Wireless Inc., Memorial University of Newfoundland, NewLab Clinical Research, and Verafin Inc.

Government of Newfoundland and Labrador announces communication infrastructure investment [11/2/2006]
St. John’s – The announcement today of an investment by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, “demonstrates our government’s commitment to advancing an innovation agenda in this province” said NATI Chair Todd Hiscock.
A consortium of companies consisting of MTS Allstream, Rogers Communications, and Persona Communications, announced today that they will invest $37million into a project that will create a fully redundant fibre optic link between St. John’s, NL and Halifax, NS on two diverse routes. The network will also connect the national carriers to the rest of Canada and beyond.
